Reel Cod Records

(everything)

The name is just a name, and so it keeps. Over time, for those who have over-thought, the name “Reel Cod Records” has gathered its share of interpretations and philosophies.

The "Records" are records of achievements, of projects come and gone, musical and more. ReelCod.com, where the records are made public, is intended to be more informative than promotional. It is about detail and linking you to more detail should you desire it. Names, Dates, and Recording methods are accessible to distinguish the works and workers from one another, to be upfront about the different ways our records are created and distributed. Meanwhile, links to artist-run sites welcome all curious cats who wish to know more about the “WHY.”  One can only hope that the works featured herein will be enough to stimulate your senses and keep you digging through our archives. Are you still awake?

One special feature of ReelCod.com is the section entitled “Venue Reviews” in which performers on the Reel Cod label pull a fast one and review the Sound Engineers, Bouncers, Janitors, Audience and perhaps even the Critics themselves on their performances at last night’s show. The old Clap n’ Slap, the old Thank n’ Spank, with a twist!

The people documented in the Reel Cod Records know each other, but the community is not exclusive. Participants are simply those who participate, and joining does not depend on style or skill. No one here is told how to do things, and everyone does things differently. There is, however, a pattern that members of Reel Cod tend to enjoy discussing and debating their work. Everyone is encouraged to be aware and critical and in search of the good and bad sides of art, in order to keep true to........ something. We are an interconnected team, always rearranging our bizarre combinations, undertaking new projects that range in structure from the solo to the super-group, from the democratic to the dictatorial. Above all, we help one another, though we do disagree, and in all likelihood some of us are disagreeing right now, but this is a necessary and celebrated part of the co-operative Grand Collaboration we call Reel Cod.
